The New Deal

Note: This is the same text that I sent you in email form.

After careful consideration, I have decided to have you guys come to class next Tuesday 10/20.
But before you panic, I have also decided not to have you guys come on Thursday 10/22.
This is what the majority of you guys said you wanted anyway. But this also means you better be there!

Here is what this means for the class: I want to see a thesis and outline for next Tuesday's class (even if you want to do a creative option and have not cleared it with me yet). Check the class website later this weekend for more specific information. We will most likely meet on the outside stairs to Langsdorf Hall (the building that houses my office) for class. At this meeting we will continue analyzing some more ads, as well as discuss your recent creative media pieces (which are hilarious, by the way, and perhaps why I am changing my mind). This will also give you guys an earlier opportunity to ask any questions on Essay #2 that you may have, as well as give those people who want to try a creative project a chance to discuss it with me. It will also give the industrious few who want to start on their revision of the first essay a chance to talk to me. I will be there as early as 1:30, in case anyone wants to discuss something with me before class.

Since we will not be meeting on Thursday, I simply will move everything back a day. The rough drafts of Essay #2 will not be due until Tuesday 10/27. The presentations will then begin on Thursday 10/29, which is now when the final draft will be due.

Also, if you have not signed up for presentations, this will give you a chance to get over there and sign up sometime before presentations actually start. By the way, if you haven't signed up for presentations yet, you should expect to go on the first day, which is Thursday 10/29, as those appear to be the only slots left. I recommend all of you be prepared to go on the first day, anyway, simply because you never know what could happen. Half of the class could not show up, and the next name on the list could be yours. :-)
